Slayden Constructors Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MWH Constructors, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Payroll Clerk to be based out of our company headquarters located in Stayton, Oregon.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform all activities necessary to process multi-state (OR, WA, ID) weekly payroll, including maintaining time and attendance records, tax reporting/records
Use payroll software (Viewpoint/Vista) with accuracy and efficiency to distribute paychecks
Prepares payroll journal entries including monthly accruals
Maintain current knowledge of state and federal payroll tax laws and regulations, and update practices and systems accordingly; provide in-house expertise
Implements and maintains payroll process and procedures for proper internal controls
Provide reports and schedules for financial, insurance, and regulatory audits
Processes special checks, off-cycle payrolls and manual checks as necessary
Tracks and reviews employee benefit changes, deductions/garnishments, paid time not worked, etc.
Maintain and document all payroll records
Address payroll issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and managers
Ensures accurate and timely publication of W2s
Familiar with BOLI/Davis Bacon/prevailing wages
Produces certified payrolls for in-house projects
Certified payroll report compliance for subcontractors
Qualifications:
3 to 5 years experience in processing payroll for 150+ employees via a payroll system
Experience with Viewpoint/Vista a strong plus
Experience in garnishments, insurance benefits, and 401(k)
Understanding of payroll procedures, related laws and best practices
It is critical for this position to always maintain confidentiality, integrity, professionalism, exercise good judgment and composure under pressure
Detail oriented, exhibiting strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills and coordinate workload with minimal supervision
Strong PC skills including proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of relevant software
