This position performs clerical/fiscal work involving the completion of financial formularies to determine consumers' liability, financial updates, consumer registrations and other departmental related tasks.Clerk 3 duties to include but not limited to:

Complete consumer liability redeterminations by reviewing tax forms, wage statements, income tax forms, pension/benefit statements, health insurance premiums, medical expenses, real estate taxes and childcare expenses and other financial data in order to calculate financial liability according to the state formulary.

Review forms for accuracy and completeness and communicate results.

Contact insurance companies as needed and review insurance authorizations as appropriate. Explain the liability formula and applicable regulations to consumers and family members and consult with other staff.

Determine financial liability and amount of charges due.

Schedule, print, and mail financial update letters. Complete monthly Medical Assistance (MA) only updates.

Work independently in the coordination of the registration process for consumers and coordinate the referral process for consumers to obtain service from the appropriate agency provider.

Explain to the consumer the financial responsibility he/she may have, if any.

Complete necessary insurance authorization forms for Medical Assistance consumers.

Assist with front desk receptionist coverage as needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned.Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment.

Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands or in the event of an emergency.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months as a Clerk 2, and education development to the level of high school; or

One year of progressively complex clerical experience and completion of high school; or

Six months of moderately complex clerical experience and completion of a post high school business curriculum; or

Any equivalent experience and/or training which provided the required knowledges and abilities.Other Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.Legal Requirements:

You must pass a background investigation.

This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
