The Associate Underwriter will perform basic underwriting functions under approved guidelines for these businesses. Responsibilities include learning underwriting concepts and the business of Delta Dental to make informed risk and financial decisions on Delta's commercial book of business. Here's a glimpse of what your day-to-day will look like:Client-Specific Experience Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses tailored to each client to determine appropriate rates based on risk assessment and evaluation, focusing on smaller or less complex cases.

Collaborative Peer Review: Work closely with fellow underwriting team members in a supportive peer review process to ensure accuracy and sound decision-making.

Consultative Role: Provide guidance and advise to our sales team and other internal customers, explaining underwriting rationale and helping them understand our decisions on the underwriting rationale.QUALIFICATIONSTo excel in this role, you'll need a combination of education, experience, and skills:Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree is a great start, but candidates with proven related experience are also welcome. Ideally, you'll have one year or more of experience in underwriting within the healthcare industry.

Communication Skills: Intermediate proficiency in both written and verbal communication is essential for interacting effectively with team members and internal sales clients.

Mathematical Aptitude: Intermediate knowledge of mathematics is crucial for performing accurate evaluations.

Detail-Oriented and Curious Mindset: Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills will help you thrive in this role.

Preferred Knowledge: Familiarity with Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes and dental nomenclature is a plus, though not mandatory.

Base Pay InformationThe national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications.
