Support Services Coordinator - Laboratory Support Services - DaysLocation: Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PASchedule: Full TimeFull Time (80 hours/Biweekly)Shift: Days, but rotate as neededOn call every 4th weekendGeneral SummaryProvides laboratory services to meet the needs of patients performed in accordance with accepted standards and practices. Supervises personnel and coordinates functions and activities in assigned support area of the laboratory. Functions as a support staff member and maintains competency in designated area(s).Essential Functions:
Directs, supervises, and coordinates laboratory support functions and activities in assigned area(s). Support areas can include phlebotomy, specimen processing, transcription, and clerical office.
Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
Trains other employees in day-to-day procedures.
Models exceptional patient care techniques to staff to promote extraordinary patient experience
Assists in developing department goals and objectives.
Interacts with patients to obtain feedback, investigate concerns and complaints, responding in a timely and appropriate manner to bring resolution
Consults with technical staff and other health care providers on matters relating to laboratory support (i.e. phlebotomy, transcription, processing, billing, lab supplies) and/or related services.
Supervises functions that may include registration, order entry, specimen processing, specimen testing, answering telephones, send out testing, laboratory supplies, typing/transcribing various materials, filing, and maintaining all pathology and clinical laboratory files.
Participates in department specific and/or system-wide projects of varying scope and duration.
Performs the duties of a medical laboratory assistant as defined by the specific laboratory department (i.e., reference, processing, clerical, billing, supplies).

QualificationsMinimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
2 years Relevant experience. Required and
Experienced in laboratory support field (i.e., phlebotomy, transcription, processing). Required
Licenses:
Certified Phlebotomy Technician - ASCP Upon Hire Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated leadership potential.
Thorough understanding of laboratory support functions (i.e., phlebotomy, specimen processing, transcription).
