Read on for more details about this particular role.ResponsibilitiesReporting into the Vice President, Secretary and Chief Legal Officer, this role will be responsible for establishing the strategy and overseeing the execution of the Company's global ethics and legal compliance programs while serving as legal advisor on matters of legal compliance, labor and employment law, and data privacy.The Senior Counsel and Director of Compliance will be entrusted with the following duties:Oversee the strategy and execution of the Company's global ethics and compliance and international trade compliance programs:
Supervise the work of a fulltime Global Compliance Manager, who is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the Company's ethics and compliance program.
Supervise the work of a fulltime Senior Manager of International Trade and Regulatory Compliance, who is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the Company's trade compliance program.
Oversee global communication and training plans, and partner with the program managers to conduct live trainings.
Oversee the Company's internal investigations processes.
Serve as the Company's program director for guidance, processes, procedures, controls and questions on anti-bribery/anticorruption compliance for associates throughout the world, including the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other similar laws.
Oversee international trade compliance program activities, including compliance with applicable import, export and trade sanctions laws and regulations. Serve as lead in-house counsel for labor and employment matters:
Serve as in-house counsel point of contact on labor and employment law matters, providing advice and services to the Company's Human Resource leadership team as necessary.
Manage the selection, engagement and retention of the Company's external labor and employment law counsel.
Coordinate the Company's response to administrative agency charges, including EEOC, PHRC, and others, and to threatened and/or actual employment litigation.
Advise HR business partners on the drafting and enforcement of employee confidentiality, non-solicitation, severance and other agreements.
Support and partner with HR business advisors as needed in the development and deployment of training programs including workplace discrimination, retaliation and harassment. Manage the Company's data privacy program:
Establish, oversee and continually enhance program responsible for compliance with state, federal, national, and multi-national privacy law compliance applicable to the company's products, services, business, and employees.
Lead the Company's cross-functional Global Privacy Working Group and direct the company's data privacy officers based in Germany and the United Kingdom Provide legal and compliance support across the enterprise:
Serve as department's legal liaison (i.e., first-call counsel) for the Asia Pacific and Latin America Regions
Serve as department's point of contact for the Company's cybersecurity team, and coordinate cybersecurity legal affairs.
Oversee the Company's Records Management Program, including through the supervision of a part-time program coordinator.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer
QualificationsThe selected candidates will possess:Education & Experience (required):
Juris Doctor from accredited law school plus 10 years of legal experience as a licensed attorney
Actively licensed member in good standing of the Pennsylvania bar
Prior experience with global ethics and compliance programs, whether as a compliance professional or attorney
Excellent writing, communications, and presentation skills
Project management skills
Ability to collaborate and build consensus while working across multiple functions within an organization.
Strong investigative/interviewing skills
Compliance technology application experience
Legal Tracker or other legal billing software experience Preferred Qualifications:
SAP or other ERP proficiency
Prior in-house legal experience
Judicial Clerkship or Federal or State Governmental Service
International Trade Compliance Experience
Law Review or another top legal journal
