Labor Liaison & Community Impact Manager
The Labor Liaison & Community Impact Manager is responsible for connecting and engaging labor with the community and encouraging partnership between the United Way of the Capital Region and the labor community.
Responsibilities include volunteer coordination, providing assistance to workers and their families, building union volunteer community leaders, supporting United Way fundraising efforts and community advocacy in the areas of health, education, school readiness and basic needs.

Qualifications:
Must be a member in good standing of a union affiliated with the AFL-CIO is required, general knowledge of organized labor with specific knowledge and understanding of the local labor movement and its community service programs, knowledge of the local voluntary sector in general, with specific understanding of the local United Way movement, strong communication, administrative and managerial skills and the ability to remain objective, nonpartisan, and professional when representing United Way of the Capital Region.
Work Schedule: Full-Time exempt position that may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Salary Range: $45,000 - $56,000 based on experience
Essential Functions:
Volunteer Coordination
Coordinate volunteer recruitment, training and mobilization
Provide Assistance to Workers and their families
Establish union-based programs to educate and help workers, their families, and retirees access information and programs available in the community
Build Union Volunteer Community Leaders
Help support the work of the Harrisburg Region Central Labor Council’s Community Services Committee and the AFL-CIO Community Services efforts. This includes but is not limited to community outreach opportunities, community volunteering, training community labor leaders and providing recognition for outstanding volunteer service
Resource Development
Coordinate and assist with fundraising for the United Way in organized workplaces
Community Advocate
Coordinate town hall meetings or worker summits around access to health care, school readiness, workforce development and basic needs
