DescriptionJob SummaryPerforms all aspects of POS(point of sale) transactions to include: cash, credit cards, meal tickets, and promos. May also support the retail food serving duties as needed.Essential Job Functions
POS Register Functions
Can effectively perform and navigate the functions of the POS system
Can trouble shoot issues and call for support as needed
Assists with the training of new register associates
Cash Handling Procedures
Operates cash register according to procedures for cash handling
Ensures customers are charged appropriately for food items
Cash transactions are immediately put in till drawer
Credit card transactions are processed through the payment gateway
Notifies supervisor immediately of any difficulties or discrepancies at the register
Keeps receipts of VOIDS with documentation and meal tickets for balance reconciliation
Performs closing shift procedures including reconciliation of till drawer
Customer service
Performs excellent customer service skills with all customers
Answers questions about café food items
Handles service recovery immediately or involves supervisor as needed
Receives and distributes all messages in a timely manner
Other duties as assigned including: barista and serving duties
Prepares and serves drinks and food according to food safety guidelines
Practices good hygiene which includes hand washing and wearing hair restraints
Uses gloves when serving and preparing food
Properly labels and discards out of date items
Stocks items with FIFO guidelines
Performs routine cleaning assignments
Properly operates all equipment including coffee machines
Reports any equipment malfunctions or unsafe working conditions promptly to supervisor
Required Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age.
Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment.
Basic math and keyboard proficiency.
Ability to communicate with all members of the health care team
Proficient in the use of Excel Spreadsheets.
Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
Preferred Qualifications
Equivalent knowledge.
Serve Safe Certification.
License, Certification & Clearances
Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
Travel may be expected locally between Independence Health System locations.
