THE POSITION
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's (PGCB) Office of Communications is looking for an energetic, highly creative, and experienced Communications Specialist to join our fast-paced team! This position gives you the opportunity to collaborate with the Director of Communications and/or the Deputy Director of Communications to develop, implement, and coordinate media and public relations activities. You work will help provide the public with a deeper understanding of the programs, functions, and services of the PGCB. Apply today to get a front-row seat in one of the nation's most exciting gaming markets!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Communications Specialist you will assist with writing, editing, and distributing press releases, newspaper articles, brochures, pamphlets, or other educational materials; compiling briefing packets; sending out press clips; monitoring media; utilizing social media; reviewing and posting information on agency website; assisting in planning and scheduling media events; and creating presentation materials. You will use your communication skills throughout your travels as you represent the PGCB in public forums presenting information and providing administrative support to the office when necessary.If you have the ability to work independently, but also thrive in a team oriented environment, we want you on our team!Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment.
Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must do so within Pennsylvania, and you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of professional experience in public relations, editing, or journalism, digital communications and communications, and a bachelor's degree with major course work in journalism, communications, English, Digital Media, or a related field; or
An equivalent combination of experience and trainingAdditional Requirements:
You must be able to perform essential job functions.Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Experience with social media and website content/development
Knowledge of the techniques required for the planning, composing, and editing of informational materials
Knowledge of English language usage and composition
Knowledge of effective public relations techniques and procedures
Knowledge of various forms of media including social media
Ability to prepare and edit all types of copy
Ability to operate various audio visual equipment and technologies
Ability to conduct research and analyze and evaluate written materialsLegal Requirements:
