Houck Project Manager/Estimator - Masonry Restoration

Classification: Exempt Reports to: Restoration Department Vice President Summary Job Description The responsibility of the Estimator/Project Manager is to generate new sales, bids and client relationships as well as provide and maintain overall direction of each project in a proactive and professional manner. Coordinate and properly communicate internally with estimators, superintendents, administrative assistants, field employees, accounting personnel and management to ensure all aspects of the project are being met. Coordinate and properly communicate externally with customers, consultants, architects and general contractors to assure all expectations are being met and to uphold our value of being the Choice. Develop accurate, complete, professional, timely and profitable bid proposals.

Generate new sales and clients through the use of inside and outside sales techniques.

Examine blue prints of prospective client requirements to determine cost.

Receive client phone calls and internet inquiries and respond to client requests for project updates and supplemental work to existing projects.

Review and become familiar with all job specific information.

Coordinate all necessary paperwork.

Prepare submittals and shop drawings.

Schedule and attend pre-construction and weekly jobsite meetings.

Perform regular jobsite visits, as required and as time allows.

Coordinate the purchase of, track and schedule material deliveries.

Coordinate jobsite utilities and major equipment needed.

Coordinate and manage subcontractors.

Maintain and monitor job progress reports and jobsite records including daily reports.

Assist Field Superintendent in managing job costs and billings as necessary.

Resolve technical or contractual issues.

Prepare and submit RFI’s.

Prepare change order estimates.

Submit monthly invoices based on contract requirements.

Assure the customer’s expectations are being met.

Conduct post-job reviews.

Attend bi-weekly department meetings and other company meetings as required.

Pursue on-going professional development training.

Be flexible and keep an open mind to change.

Knowledge of Houck Divisions and capabilities (caulking, flooring, masonry restoration, sheet metal, roofing).

Ability and flexibility for frequent travel is expected for this position.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment as well as on site at construction locations. The use of computers, printers, cell phones, telephones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines is required. Other functions can take place indoors or outdoors, sometimes in high, precarious places with fumes and/or airborne particles. The standard outdoor work environment has loud to very loud noise levels associated with various equipment, coworkers and phone conversations. Often work must be performed in high and/or cramped workspaces and awkward positions. The employee works around hazardous situations, materials and equipment.
