Description A large non-profit organization in Harrisburg, PA is seeking a contract-to-hire addition to their Human Resources team. As an HR Specialist, you will be instrumental in coordinating and executing organization-wide initiatives. You will also be part of the initiative to revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Employee Handbook, plus assist in the implementation of a new performance review plan. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resource Professional to jump-in and support an impactful organization.Responsibilities: Assist in managing and responding to inquiries, determining causes for usual and unusual occurrences, and implementing solutions using standard human resources principles and practices. Aid in coordinating compensation and benefit programs, including updates to pay rates and pay scales, coordinating open enrollment with Broker and HRIS, and managing qualifying events. Support the employee life cycle, managing applicants/candidates for open positions, transfers, promotions, termination, and retirement. Assist with new hire orientation, on-boarding, and employee recognition programs. Aid in the preparation and implementation of employee leave policies and leave of absence procedures. Serve as a backup for processing biweekly payroll and maintaining electronic and hard copy employee files. Assist with implementing and gathering documents for the organization’s performance review program. Assist with data and information gathering for complaint investigations. Aid in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, review of policies and practices to maintain compliance and safety.Requirements Proven experience in Human Resources Administration, including employee relations, talent acquisition, and performance management. In-depth understanding and experience in Compensation & Benefits, including the development and implementation of benefits programs. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred. Professional HR certification, such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP is advantageous Must possess a high level of integrity and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
