In this position, you will engage in monitoring and evaluating safety protocols while offering support to district and county personnel. Responsibilities encompass delivering safety training and managing administrative functions to bolster the safety program. Furthermore, you will assist in the coordination and upkeep of effective safety policies and procedures, oversee compliance, and perform on-site evaluations for the Accident/Injury Prevention Program. Participation in the Accident Review Committee is mandatory, along with the investigation of serious injuries and incidents to guarantee the implementation of corrective measures. You will contribute to the formulation of safety strategies, follow up on corrective actions, and address safety issues within your designated areas. Regular site assessments will be conducted to verify safety compliance, with all incidents documented in safety databases and requisite paperwork processed. The role also entails developing safety training programs as a subject matter expert, organizing training sessions based on identified needs, and formulating emergency plans that conform to departmental policies. Additionally, the individual will analyze data to propose safety management techniques, summarize accident patterns, and recommend prevention strategies to management. Field assessments and management evaluations of facilities will be carried out to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, while also providing guidance to maintenance teams and garage personnel on safety practices.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, at supervisors discretion. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Successful completion of the Safety Specialist Trainee program (commonwealth title); or

Five years of technical experience in conducting safety inspections, safety investigations, or safety training, or performing technical highway maintenance or highway construction work; or

One year of technical experience in conducting safety inspections, safety investigations, or safety training, or performing technical highway maintenance or highway construction work, and a bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:You must obtain an active Advanced Safety Certificate issued by the National Safety Council's Safety Training Institute within two years of starting in this job.

Other Requirements:This particular position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
