Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a tuition free, home, and private school for over 2,100 Pre-K through 12th grade students. MHS is currently seeking a full-time Cook to join the team. We have a unique opportunity in which you would cook healthy dishes, interact with a diverse population of adults and students, and assist with a variety of responsibilities to help keep the Food Service Department operating smoothly. This is a service-orientated position that provides the best menu for students and staff at the dining halls, residences, health center, catered events & special programs. It provides support to meet the school’s food service programs, such as preparing appealing and nutritious meals, fulfillment of menu orders, and maintaining a food safe work environment (cleaning & sanitation) to enhance the well-being of the students and staff. Work Schedule: Year-round Monday – Friday flex shift (weekend shifts may be required as part of the flex schedule model with overtime required). Any combination of the shift times listed below on a weekly basis. A full-time schedule shall consist of forty hours of scheduled work with a minimum of two (2) days off:6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.Bargaining Local Union 464 with an hourly rate of $25.84 plus any applicable shift differential. Full-time employees are eligible for an excellent benefits package that includes paid time off, medical, vision, and dental insurance, and financial benefits.High School Diploma or GED required.Prior experience as a cook in a commercial kitchen environment & knowledge of modern methods of food preparation, health codes and sanitation principles.Culinary/catering/cooking experience required.Valid NSF Serv Safe Certification or ability to obtain within six months upon hire.Valid PA Driver’s License in good standing.HACCP training.Physically capable of lifting, moving, and/or carrying up to 50+ pounds on a frequent basis.Ability to maintain accurate records and follow instructions; understand and carry out oral and written communication.Ability to interact and communicate with a diverse group of adults and children.Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS Staff are role models for MHS Students.Candidates should be willing to actively engage with MHS Students.
