Position Summary

The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) has partnered with the Urban Institute, and project advisory partner Just Detention International, on the National Service Line for Incarcerated Survivors of Sexual Abuse project with funding from the Office of Violence Against Women. This is a two-year project focusing on corrections facilities providing external reporting options and services for survivors of sexual abuse who are incarcerated. The goal of this project is to determine if and how a National Sexual Abuse Service Line could assist correctional agencies and facilities allow survivors who are incarcerated a way to report sexual abuse or harassment to an independent entity, as well as access to outside victim advocates for support services related to sexual abuse. The project will involve an assessment of relevant research, best practices, focus group, and interviews with key stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Coordination:

Lead Steering Committee formation and engagement, which includes three meetings: a kick off virtual meeting, an in-person meeting and a final wrap up session, as well as check-ins to review materials and project updates.

Coordinate efforts to assess research, literature, and practices related to reporting of sexual abuse and support services for victims and survivors in correctional facilities.

Assist in the assessment of compliance with PREA Standards 115.51 and 115.53 through PREA audit materials, focus groups, interviews and other assessment tools.

Lead the NSVRC team in developing an outline of the potential National Service Line.

Assist in the Development of Final Report and Recommendations.

Technical Assistance:

Provide technical assistance to sexual violence programs, grantees, state coalitions, and other agencies and individuals on various topics related to preventing and responding to sexual violence.

Assist with researching topics and identifying materials to aid in responding to information requests, including resources on trauma-informed services.

Resource Development:

Oversee the development of technical assistance materials, serving as a writer, reviewer and/or editor.

Oversee contracts with consultants and/or supervise staff coordinating such contracts and projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college/university or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of three years in project management or equivalent combination of education and experience in research and sexual violence.
