Hetrick-Bitner, Geigle, Smith & Neumyer Funeral Homes, the Harrisburg areas most preferred funeral and cremation provider, are seeking individuals interested in joining our Support Team as a Funeral Director Assistant. Previous experience is not required.
This part-time opportunity offers flexible hours (daytime, evening and weekend). You would work closely with people from diverse backgrounds interacting with our client families and the public by performing a variety of tasks to assist our Licensed Funeral Directors. These tasks can range from serving client families and visitations to assisting in removals, transfers and transportation of the deceased, and general care of the facilities and equipment both inside and outside.
Overview and Responsibilities:
Assist the Funeral Directors with a variety of support tasks during visitations, funerals and other events
Transfer the deceased from nursing homes, coroner offices, hospitals or residence to the funeral home
Find specific locations in varied traffic conditions and at varied times of night and day
Receive and follow instructions in person, by phone or other electronic devices
Requirements, Qualifications and Expectations:
Valid Pennsylvania drivers license with a clean driving record
Ability to use proper lifting techniques in moving and carrying more than 100 lbs.
Ability to work as needed and on-call hours including evenings, night and weekends
Desire to work in a team environment, as well as accept individual responsibilities
Maintain composure in difficult situations
Effective communication skills and attention to detail
Professional attire and appearance
Report to work promptly at unpredictable times
Compassion toward others with a friendly demeanor
