THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is looking for a highly motivated person with great attention to detail to join our team as an Institutional Parole Assistant. This position is within the Department of Corrections.DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs an Institutional Parole Assistant, you will provide clerical and technical assistance within the institutional parole office. You will be responsible for controlling inmates in the parole release process, ensuring that they are released in accordance with laws governing release of offenders and PA Parole Board policy. This includes interviewing inmates to determine their home plan needs and monitoring results of drug screening, results of home plan investigations, status changes, results of CCC referrals, Crime Victim Act payments, and for misconducts or infractions prior to release. You will also prepare Release Orders, letters, memos, and end of month status reports and run Criminal Histories (RAP sheets) for any needed cases on the monthly docket.If you are looking to join a fast-paced public service agency, the Department of Corrections wants to hear from you. Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Four years of experience as a Clerical Assistant 2 in the Department of Corrections or Probation and Parole Board (commonwealth title); or
One year of complex clerical experience; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.Other Requirements:
