THE POSITION

Engineering District 10 is currently on the lookout for a skilled Technical Assistant to join their team. As a Technical Assistant, you will be responsible for handling entry-level tasks within the District Construction Unit. Your main duties will include supporting Transportation Construction Inspectors and Supervisors in the review of different Construction Documentation. DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, you will help review completed work units and material documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with department policies. You will assist in overseeing field construction project records and documentation using ECMS, PPCC, and mobile construction applications on a PennDOT-issued iPad. Assist in technical reviews of material costs for highway and bridge projects and verify the completeness and accuracy of documentation and work orders submitted by Project Management staff for payments. This position will verify the final quantities and costs submitted by construction project personnel through comprehensive statistical audits. Inspect construction operations on roads and bridges to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract provisions. Assist in managing work zone traffic control signs and devices according to the Work Zone Traffic Control Plan and relevant publications. Aid in processing periodic progress payments, checking stakeouts, elevations, grades, slopes, excavation, material placement, and compaction. Assist in material testing for project incorporation and collect necessary forms and certifications. Additionally, you will collaborate with construction personnel to address discrepancies and deviations in payments, documentation, calculation methods, computations, and cross-section areas. Participate in earthwork analysis for borrow excavation projects and ensure project documentation, calculations, payments, and methods align with Department standards, contract specifications, policies, and procedures.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week.

Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Vendor controlled position, may change based on operational needs.

Overtime and travel as needed/directed.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Telework would be on an Ad Hoc basis. To be discussed further during interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Indiana.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Graduation from high school; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

This particular position requires possession of a valid PA Class C Driver's License.
