DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, you will oversee multiple construction projects of moderate complexity and supervise the inspection of intricate project phases from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to professionalism, timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and safety standards. You will serve as the Inspector-In-Charge for highway construction, which encompasses responsibilities such as roadway pavement reconstruction, guide rail installation, flood control measures, and bridge rehabilitation or replacement. You will address coordination issues involving municipalities, private properties, emergency services, railroads, utilities, and other projects, providing necessary support. Additionally, you will assist the Assistant Construction Engineer in scheduling and resolving delays, participate in constructability reviews and meetings, and prepare documentation, justifications, technical reports, and correspondence related to construction, including work orders and estimates. It is essential to ensure that all materials used are certified and comply with specifications while supervising inspections for contract compliance and standards. You will maintain professional relationships with supervisors, colleagues, contractors, and the public to promote a positive image for PennDOT, overseeing all facets of highway construction, including grading, paving, drainage, and associated features. Furthermore, you will review plans for constructability during the design phase and conduct project evaluations post-completion to ensure maintenance efficiency.Interested in learning more? Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Indiana.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor; or

Four years of experience in construction inspection, including one year in a supervisory capacity; and graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training. Completion of a training program in construction inspection sanctioned by the using agency may be substituted for high school graduation. An Associate Degree in an engineering or closely related technology may be substituted for one year of the required non-supervisory experience; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.Other Requirements:

This particular position requires a Class C non-commercial driver's license
