The CTC Engineering Division specializes in transforming cutting-edge technologies into real-world solutions. We harness the power of 3D printing, advanced joining techniques like friction stir welding, and cutting-edge design tools to tackle complex challenges for a diverse set of clients.Key Responsibilities:
The candidate will lead efforts across the spectrum from R&D concept to commercialization. These efforts incorporate elements of requirement identification, industrial chemical process development, process design, process improvement, laboratory experimentation, pilot design, cost estimation, and report generation. Project definition will vary from defined solutions for evaluation to open concepts where the candidate must identify alternatives and develop solutions based on customer need. This role provides opportunity to apply both core and emerging chemical engineering capability to provide timely, creative, and sound solutions to chemical processing challenges.
CTC's matrix organization offers opportunities to support multiple projects and support activity outside core chemical engineering roles. Examples include utility assessments of domestic and industrial waters, DoD fuels, natural gas, and steam systems at DoD installations, peer review of team reports and evaluations, and supporting project/program proposals.
Travel is anticipated and is determined by project needs, but is estimated at 15%. Destinations are dictated by project and can include DoD / contractor facilities, CONUS and OCONUS locations, and include both project specific scope or conferences.Basic Qualifications:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering and 6-8 years of experience
Process and plant design experience
Developed chemical process concepts, flow diagrams, P&ID diagrams, and equipment specifications
Controls development and specification
Chemical modeling and simulation experience (ASPEN preferred)
Developed design of experiments for proof of concept or process optimization
Capital and operating cost estimating experience
Basic knowledge of materials, coatings, and surface treatments used on DoD weapons systems and platforms
Understanding to take R&D concept through testing, pilot, LRIP, and commercialization
Ability to manage multiple tasks and balance competing deadlinesPreferred Qualifications:
Understanding of utility water, wastewater, DoD fuels, natural gas systems
Condition assessment of existing utility systems
Aptitude/experience related to mechanical systems
Chemical Plant buildout/startup
Hydrogen production
Oil and Gas refining
Rare Earth Element chemistries
Materials analysis and selection
Industrial process safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental compliance and permitting
Familiarity with DoD research organizations and programs
