Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit sector, located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This role offers a contract opportunity and focuses on providing detail-oriented auditing and financial tasks within the organization. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for a range of duties, from installing accounting systems to conducting performance audits. Responsibilities: Implement and maintain accounting systems to ensure the smooth functioning of financial operations. Perform post-auditing and pre-auditing of financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. Conduct thorough testing of internal control measures to ensure they are effective and reliable. Regularly perform tests to ensure compliance with Federal, State, County rules, and regulations. Perform special tests to uncover defalcations and prevent financial misconduct. Handle all types of fiscal-related matters, ensuring the financial stability and integrity of the organization. Utilize skills in Audit, Accounting procedures, and Bookkeeping to ensure the accuracy of financial records and transactions. Regularly review and recommend improvements to accounting procedures to enhance efficiency. Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting procedures and principles. Proficiency in audit procedures and understanding of audit compliance. Practical experience with bookkeeping and financial reporting. Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated ethical behavior and confidentiality of sensitive information. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred. Familiarity with financial software is considered a plus. Ability to meet tight deadlines under minimal supervision.
