PACKING OPERATOR

It's the Packaging Operators responsibility to ensure that the packaging line and the equipment's on packaging line are clean and set up properly. Also, to ensure quality produced finished product is according to Master Packaging Record instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows all company safety policies including, cGMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Follows all Gowning procedures according to different zone requirements.
  • Follows/takes Directions from Line Leader/Supervisor.
  • The Packaging Operator must be able to start up and shutdown all equipment according to established procedures or specifications and perform minor to major clearing of jams and downtime issues on the line.
  • Operate high-speed equipment for the manual or automated packaging and labeling of pharmaceutical products: ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in compliance with State and Federal regulatory guidelines.
  • Tending machines and conveyors at various stages of the packaging line to maintain efficient, continuous packaging of the product for shipment.
  • Weigh, identify and document all waste from beginning, middle and end of each individual packaged Batch.
  • Equipment operation to include, but is not limited to: Bottle unscramblers, Cappers, heat tunnel, sealer, Labelers, Topserter, case maker, Tape machines and Rollers.
  • Complete Line Clearances and Change-Overs on production lines in accordance with SOPs and cGMPs.
  • Documents accurate paperwork, including batch records, log books and downtime entries and checks the documentation of others.
  • Perform in process checks during packaging process and document in Packaging Batch Record as per instruction of packaging batch record.
  • keep bottle caps, labels, cartons, and pallet wraps (plastic rolls) and glue for hot melt tanks in adequate amounts to ensure continuous smooth running of equipment and operation.
  • Supply hoppers with bottles, caps and other Packaging components as needed.
  • Identify, retrieve and inspect pallets, apply case labels as needed
  • Accurately accounts for issued components and usage on the Packaging Line.
  • Ensures that all packaged units and all applied codes and placards have the correct Batch number & EXP Dates as specified on the Master Batch Records.
  • Communicates with packaging supervision, maintenance and QA to address machine and equipment issues
  • Completes SAP/Inventory paperwork
  • Concise communication with co-workers and managers to promote teamwork atmosphere.
  • Understand the process flow and step by step requirements for Packaging.
  • Coordinates segregations and re-inspections
  • Break down of excess corrugate for bailing.
  • Clean and/or disassemble packaging line, room and equipment's e.g. capper, labeler, shrink wrap after the completion of packaging process as per SOP.
  • Maintain packaging line and equipment's in good working order, inspect packaging line and equipment's for wear, and have any worn or malfunctioning parts evaluated and reported to Production Supervisor or Manager.
  • Follows standard operating procedures including replacing label rolls during the manufacturing process and adjusting fill-weight according to specifications.
  • Controls the speed of the filling machines.
  • Set- up, run, & Operate the Optel Vision System, Label Vision System, Track & Trace System.
  • Perform Equipment adjustments necessary during the packaging run as required.
  • Document all set up and cleaning in the log book and other pertinent paperwork.
  • Ensure sure all paperwork is complete and accurate throughout and after the run.
  • Visually inspect the equipment's as it is running to verify the equipment's are running within normal and safe operation.
  • Perform any and all additional tasks relating to the operation of the packaging/production department as requested.


Competencies/Skills:

  • Should have an understanding/knowledge of cGMP, safety criteria or the ability to learn.
  • Perform any and all additional tasks relating to the operation of the manufacturing department as requested.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The Packaging Operator will be required to work overtime as needed, and to provide line coverage during vacations, roving holidays and sick time to support their natural work team.
  • The Packaging Operator must be able to maintain accurate and legible records such as Production Counts, Material Usage/Losses and properly document information on Batch Work orders as per the company procedures.


Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or
  • a minimum of one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
