THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is on the lookout for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee to join their team in York County. This role involves participating in the maintenance and operation of the wastewater treatment facility located at Gifford Pinchot State Park. The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee will participate in activities related to the upkeep and functioning of the wastewater treatment facility at Gifford Pinchot State Park, with the aim of acquiring fundamental skills and knowledge necessary for certification as a wastewater treatment plant operator.The role involves gaining hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of various wastewater treatment systems, managing biological processes, and documenting operational data and observations.Additionally, the trainee will familiarize themselves with the laws, regulations, and permits mandated by federal, state, and local regulatory bodies. As part of their training, the individual is expected to work towards achieving a Class C- Subclass 1 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operating License through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.Interested in learning more? Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. You will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months of building maintenance or trades experience; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

This position requires possession of a PA class C Driver's License.

All employees must obtain, within the probationary period, a valid Operator's Certificate, or an Operator in Training Designation issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or greater than the classification and sub classification of the wastewater system to be operated or maintained. (Class D-subclass 1 sewage license)Other Requirements:
