Apex has an immediate opportunity for an Assistant Chemist at a global specialty materials client in the King of Prussia area. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Assistant Chemist will support chemical, rheological, and mechanical analysis of different types of asphalts, polymers, and roofing products.
After performing the necessary tests, the individual would be required to analyze and communicate any data. In addition, the individual will be cross-trained for various operations in the lab and must be able to multitask effectively and meet specific deadlines. The individual must maintain a safe working environment in laboratories by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Knowledge:
Hands-on skills in safely conducting laboratory experiments.
Good attention to detail and quality of work. The organization is key!
Written and oral communication to the supervisor.
Knowledge of chemical analytical methods like FTIR, TGA, DSC, and liquid chromatography is plus.
Responsibilities include:
Preparation and performing experiments on Asphalt, Polymers, and Asphalt roofing products.
Data analysis and reporting the results
Knowledge of computer and software use such as Microsoft Excel, Minitab, and specific testing equipment software.
Qualifications:
Degree in Chemistry, Chemical engineering, material science, or previous work experience in these fields is desirable.
