As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the precision of all testing procedures in accordance with Pennsylvania Test Method (PTM) guidelines, as well as relevant standards from the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM). This includes verifying the accuracy of laboratory reports and making observations during shipments to confirm that the delivered materials meet specifications, supported by accurate weigh slips.It is essential to document sampling and testing methods accurately, following the designated procedures for each material type. You should identify any potential issues and propose solutions when possible, while promptly reporting any problems to your supervisor to maintain workflow efficiency.Your daily tasks will involve ensuring that transportation projects adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will assist with project material reviews at construction sites and district offices, ensuring compliance with source approvals, certification requirements, and testing protocols, while also verifying that vendors follow quality control plans and maintain proper documentation.Interested in learning more? Full-time employment

Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis through the winter season. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City, PA.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or

Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or

Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or

Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or

One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
