We are preparing to install two of our custom unit-furniture programs in two new student housing properties developed by Core Spaces in State College. ōLiv Highland has 582 bedrooms and ōLiv State College has 562.

We are seeking one to two part time candidates to support our furniture installation process and be our eyes and ears on the ground at the properties before and during the installation project.

While we are a furniture company, this position leans heavily on the construction side given you’ll be working in a building site and interacting with contractors of all kinds to help solve problems.

Hours

- Flexible hours (10–30 hours per week)

Compensation

- This is a paid position and all day-to-day expenses will be covered

- We are targeting between $20–30 per hour

- Paid time includes travel time to the project

- All day-to-day expenses will be covered:

- Gas and mileage to site

- Supplies needed (tablet for install tracker, tape, room signage, box cutter, tape measure etc.)

Duration

- The position will ideally run from February/March to August 2024 however we are open to adjusting those periods for the right candidate

- The workload will vary but peak periods will be March/April and May/June/July. The position will require more work over the summer.

Responsibilities

Pre-install: Jan/Feb 2024

- Work with ROOMY team to get onboarded and learn about the industry and the project specifically

- Walk the building and track progress of the construction in preparation for install

- Report to ROOMY team on the state of the units (both on calls and within shared team tracking documents)

- Help coordinate the staging location for our products

- Assist with the provision of dumpsters for our install crew

Install: March/April & May/June 2024

- Work with install team to walk the units

- Take inventory of furniture in the units and track progress/missing items

- Note any issues in the units for example damage, construction debris

- Help maintain our install tracking document

- We maintain a spreadsheet that tracks every piece of furniture going in to the building by unit

- Bi-weekly status call with ROOMY team

- Misc ad-hoc responsibilities

You’ll work closely with the tight-knit and uniquely experienced co-founding ROOMY team.

Responsibilities may include occasional heavy lifting, e.g. assisting our installation team in a pinch

About you

- Anyone can apply

- If you are a student, ideally you are majoring in architecture, construction management, construction engineering, or other real-estate related degree. Other majors will of course be considered also.

- Curious and excited to obtain hands-on experience

- Comfortable working in and around an active construction site

- Good interpersonal and communication skills

- Next-level attention to detail

- Proficient using spreadsheets/Google doc suite

- Bonus: interest in furniture and logistics
