This person will be familiar with the day-to-day activities, employees, and concerns within the facilities. Responsible for providing a variety of animal husbandry services; serves as subject matter expert providing consult and support to team members.What you will do
Experience caring for animals in a laboratory or veterinary environment.
Assist in monitoring compliance on daily husbandry requirements, technical services and/or clinical support for assigned areas.
Daily and weekly quality assurance inspections for assigned areas.
Performs daily animal health checks and reports any abnormal animal conditions to the veterinary technician and /or management.
Provides animal husbandry and cage cleaning as needed
Assists animal facility supervisors to achieve daily/weekly metrics
Assists animal facility supervisors to ensure required daily tasks are completed as assigned to the staff
Assists with animal receipts and census scanning as needed.
Maintains inventories of technical supplies such as medications and procedure room and hallway supplies.
Assists investigators with basic technical procedures (treatments, blood withdrawal, tissue collection and sampling) as requested.
All work will be performed as per facility SOPs.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED Required
Associate's Degree Animal Science or Veterinary Technology Preferred
Experience Qualifications
At least three (3) years experience in a laboratory animal or zoo animal setting Required
Licenses and Certifications
Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) - American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) - - Preferred or
Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) - American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) - - Preferred or
