Position Summary: As a Dietary Aide in our senior living facility, your primary responsibility is to support the dietary department in providing nutritionally balanced and appealing meals to residents. You will assist with meal preparation, service, and other tasks related to maintaining a well-functioning dining environment. Your role is essential in ensuring the overall well-being and satisfaction of residents through excellent dining service.

Essential Duties:

Meal Service: Help with meal service, including setting up dining areas, arranging table settings, and preparing trays for residents who require meal delivery to their rooms. Serve meals promptly and with a friendly and professional demeanor. Clear tables and clean dining areas after meals.

Dietary Restrictions: Work closely with the dietary department to understand residents' specific dietary restrictions, allergies, and preferences. Ensure that meal orders are accurately communicated, and appropriate food substitutions are made when necessary. Provide assistance to residents in selecting suitable meal options.

Sanitation and Safety: Follow proper sanitation and food safety protocols at all times. Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation and dining areas, including surfaces, equipment, and utensils. Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.

Inventory Control: Assist in monitoring and restocking inventory, including food items, beverages, and supplies. Ensure that stock is rotated, labeled, and stored properly. Notify the appropriate staff when supplies need to be replenished to maintain adequate stock levels.

Resident Interaction: Interact with residents in a friendly, courteous, and respectful manner. Attend to their needs and requests promptly, striving to provide excellent customer service. Engage in conversation and build positive relationships with residents to enhance their dining experience.

Cleaning and Dishwashing: Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and pans. Operate dishwashing equipment or hand wash items as necessary. Maintain cleanliness in the dishwashing area and ensure that dishes and utensils are properly stored.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the culinary team, dining servers, and other dietary aides to ensure efficient and coordinated operations. Communicate effectively, share information, and assist colleagues as needed to create a smooth dining service Other duties as assigned.

Meal Preparation: Assisting in meal preparation, including portioning, assembling, and plating food. Following standardized recipes and portion guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy. Adapting recipes or making substitutions as necessary to meet residents' dietary requirements.

Meal Service: Providing prompt and courteous meal service to residents. Setting up dining areas, arranging table settings, and ensuring a welcoming and clean environment. Assisting residents in selecting appropriate meal options and accommodating their preferences to enhance their dining experience.

Communication and Customer Service: Interacting with residents in a friendly, compassionate, and respectful manner. Actively listening to their needs and preferences, responding to inquiries, and addressing concerns promptly. Building positive relationships and fostering a sense of community within the senior living environment.

Time Management and Organization: Managing time effectively to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure smooth meal service. Maintaining organized workstations and storage areas. Assisting in inventory control, restocking supplies, and rotating stock as needed.

Adaptability and Flexibility: Adapting to changing dietary needs, menu modifications, and resident preferences. Flexibility in working various shifts, including weekends and holidays. Being open to learning and embracing new approaches or techniques in meal preparation and service.

Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively with the culinary team, dietary staff, and other team members to achieve common goals. Communicating effectively, sharing information, and assisting colleagues as needed to ensure efficient and coordinated operations.

Attention to Detail: Paying close attention to detail to ensure accuracy in portioning, plating, and presentation of meals. Following instructions precisely and double-checking for any special dietary requirements or restrictions.

Cleanliness and Organization: Maintaining cleanliness and organization in food preparation and dining areas. Cleaning dishes, utensils, and equipment promptly and thoroughly. Adhering to sanitation guidelines and reporting any safety hazards or maintenance issues.
