Job DescriptionDirector, Legal OperationsWe are seeking a Director of Legal Operations to lead our business strategy and operational processes within the legal department. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role is key in driving operational efficiencies, strategic planning, and aligning with industry best practices.Job Responsibilities

Strategic Initiatives and Operational Management: Implement the legal department's strategic initiatives to ensure operational efficiency and optimal resource allocation. Coordinate the legal department?s communications, professional development and skills training. Assist in external engagement activities designed to build the legal department?s brand and candidate pipeline.

Technology and Vendor Management : Evaluate, select, and oversee the implementation of legal technology solutions. Manage the law firm selection and utilization, and track law firm arrangements to ensure optimal service and cost-efficiency of outside counsel relationships.

Financial Oversight: Direct budget management tasks, including spend analysis and resource allocation.

Legal Industry Best Practices and KPI Development: Stay updated on the latest legal industry trends and integrate best practices. Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other benchmarking data to measure and showcase legal department progress.

Knowledge Management: Lead the legal department?s Knowledge Management efforts, developing systems for the efficient storage and retrieval of work product.

Change Management and Process Improvement: Lead all change management and communication efforts, creating and implementing process guidelines, templates, and workflows to streamline operations.

Executive Reporting: Prepare and present detailed executive reports for the General Counsel and Legal Leadership Team, highlighting department achievements, challenges, and strategic insights.

Qualifications

Educational Background: BA or BS required, MBA or JD preferred.

Experience: At least 8 years in a legal department, law firm, or relevant operational management role, with extensive knowledge of the legal industry.

Skills: Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills. Proficient in legal spend and matter management tools.

Characteristics: Business-minded, collaborative, strategic, data-driven, and adept at using analytics and performance metrics balanced by sound judgement to drive decisions. Must be adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
