Carries out effective liaison with outside organizations, working in close cooperation and coordination with legal counsel, consultants and benefit vendors. Negotiates with vendors on rates, services and administration. Responsible for the direction of Benefits Specialists and Representatives. Provides leadership and direction for team which may include multiple functional areas. Develops and implements strategy for functional area(s). May have responsibility for developing and managing budget.Job DescriptionCore Responsibilities

Provides recommendation and implementation of corporate Benefits policies, practices and programs for all levels of Company personnel.

Develops and recommends employee benefit changes and programs to address lost drivers. Benchmarks benefit plans against competition. Markets and promotes employee retention.

Provides support and direction as it relates to benefits during union contract negotiations and other labor relations activities.

Directs and supervises benefit plan design and implements to develop equitable compensation programs in conjunction with Company policy.

Selects and supervises benefit consultants, attorneys, trustees and TPAs.

Develops and delivers effective employee communications and materials.

Negotiates rate and terms with vendors and consultants.

Prepares and monitors budgets.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
