The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is one of the 12 regional Reserve Banks that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., make up the Federal Reserve System. It helps formulate and implement monetary policy, supervises banks and bank and savings and loan holding companies, and provides financial services to depository institutions and the federal government. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia serves eastern and central Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking a graduate level college student majoring in Economics, Public Policy, Public Health, Sociology, Urban Planning, or another Social Science discipline for a fall/winter internship in the Community Development & Regional Outreach Department. The selected candidate will work approximately 15 hours per week.The successful candidate will undertake an independent research project examining hospitals' investments in community development activities such as housing improvements, workforce development, and community revitalization.Responsibilities include: Research and Analysis:
Conducts quantitative analysis of hospitals' community benefit expenditures and qualitative analysis of narrative descriptions related to community development activities. The findings of this research will be synthesized into a report that quantifies the level of hospital investment in community development activities in the Third Federal Reserve District, highlights examples of existing hospital/community development collaborations, and identifies other potential areas of mission alignment.Administrative Support:
Supports department's outreach initiatives including handling logistical details of planning industry events and other programming.Required Skills:
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Ability to write clearly and communicate technical concepts to lay audiences
Experience working with data in a statistical program such as SAS, STATA, SPSS, R, etc.
Applicant must be comfortable sitting at a computer for a long period of timePreferred Skills:
Knowledge of or demonstrated interest in community development is preferred
