The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Akhil Vaidya
Essential Functions
Carry out molecular and cell biological studies on malaria parasites.
These would involve construction of vectors to transfect malaria parasites using the CRISPR-Cas9 technology as well as the application of conditional expression technology.
Conduct biochemical assays to measure respiration by malaria parasites and effects of antimalarial drug treatment on mitochondrial functions.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Microbiology or related.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience.
Physical Requirements
Typically sitting at a desk/table.
Typically standing, walking.

Additional Information
This position is classified as an exempt grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630.00 to $81,940.00per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
