POSITION SUMMARYThe Purchasing Associate at Rhoads Industries plays a crucial role in supporting the procurement team through vendor selection and procurement functions associated with the company's need for materials, fixed assets and services. These products and services are to be secured at cost, quality and delivery consistent with company policy.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProcurement and Sourcing:
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms and pricing.
Monitor market trends and supplier performance to make informed purchasing decisions.
Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable supply chain.
Supplier Performance Monitoring:
Track and evaluate supplier performance based on key metrics such as delivery times, quality, and pricing.
Provide recommendations for supplier improvements or changes based on performance data.
Assist in the development of supplier scorecards and performance reviews.
Procurement Process Optimization:
Review and assess current procurement processes and procedures to identify inefficiencies or gaps.
Collaborate with the purchasing team to implement process improvements and best practices.
Support the development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements related to procurement.
Implement and enforce quality control procedures for purchased goods and services.
Address and resolve any quality issues or non-conformance with suppliers.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with the purchasing team, finance department, and other internal stakeholders to support procurement objectives.
Communicate effectively with suppliers and vendors to resolve issues and gather necessary information.
Participate in cross-functional teams and meetings as required.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate and organized records of procurement activities, supplier information, and purchase orders.
Ensure that all documentation is complete and up to date for auditing and compliance purposes.
EDUCATION:
Required:Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in procurement or supply chainQUALIFICATIONS:
U.S. Citizenship required.
Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
Some experience with procurement software
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Ability to communicate requirements in an industrial environment and to give effective direction by using written and/or verbal skills where appropriate.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
Ability to acquire and maintain appropriate Government security clearance required.
Onsite requirement.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways.
Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile
