The Family Caregiver Center (FCgC) Receptionist creates a therapeutic and welcoming environment for each person who enters the Center, works collaboratively with staff and volunteers, supports the Lead for Patient and Family Centered Care (PFCC) to advance the work of the department. Some major responsibilities include greeting, interacting and supporting family caregivers, keeping accurate, timely data, and, under the direction of the Lead, ensuring FCgC / PFCC programs meet goals.

Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of office activities in support of departmental functions: o Orders and organize supplies, ensuring adequate quantities are available to meet FCgC demands while staying within budget.o Operate office equipment accurately and keep equipment stocked with supplies to ensure correct operation. Copies, scans and faxes documents for families as requested. Instructs on massage chair and cleans between useo Answer telephones promptly and courteously. Record and relay messages promptly; respond to inquiries.o Pick up and/or deliver mail, supplies, charts, and ether items in a timely manner. Greet families and visitors as they arrive, tour the FCgC and links family members to programs and resources. o Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment for all who enter o Creates a gracious space by understanding the unique needs of each person entering the Center.o Using the concepts of empathy and caring, connects with Family Caregivers and listens without judgment or bias.o Offers emotional support by active listening and purposely responding.o Provide information about the Centers mission and resources.o Links Family Caregivers to hospital and community resources by referring to appropriate departments and services. o Guides Family Caregivers to destinations (escorts individuals to units, Perlman etc…)o Completes internet searches as requested by Family Caregivers. Assists Family Caregivers in internet searches: teaches how to complete basic searches for health information, lodging and other helpful resources o Creates a therapeutic environment. Lighting, music, quiet space, massage chair use…o Makes coffee, stocks shelves, waters plants and other duties as assigned.o Respond promptly and follow through to meet family needs as required.o Organizes children’s area, ensures toys are clean per infections disease standardso Monitors Care Partner shower- works with other departments to ensure it is clean and stocked Keep others informed of progress on work activities to ensure efficient coordination of interrelated activities. Keep Lead informed of issues or concerns. o Use work time efficiently and effectively. o Develop and maintain contact with others to plan and coordinate interrelated activities effectively. Display self-motivating techniques, need no follow up reminders. Create and maintain accurate records, files, and logs needed for departmental records; record and update information accurately and in a timely manner.o Ensures accurate visitor sign in. Completes monthly reports.o Takes minutes as assigned o Update and purge data as needed to maintain current files and/or records. Preserve confidentiality, privacy, dignity and respect of patients, families, visitors, volunteers and staff according to hospital policy. Provide prompt and courteous response to the requests of the department, including the Patient and Family Advisors, food pantry and patient experience staff. Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Credentials:Education or Equivalent Experience:

H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)

Education Specialization:Equivalent Experience:or equivalent with basic business and customer service skills. Familiarity with medical terminology.And 0-1 years Family Caregiver experience
