WAIAI spearheads innovative student learning experiences, faculty research opportunities, and thought partnerships with industry experts and practitioners. Our work also extends to K-12 education, preparing the next generation to leverage AI and data science to its full potential, as well as executive education to train the existing workforce in modern AI and statistical methods. WAIAI brings together five research centers at Wharton: AI at Wharton, Generative AI Lab, Neuroscience Initiative, People Analytics, and the Sports Analytics and Business Initiative.Job Description The Research Analyst will advance the goals of The Wharton AI & Analytics Initiative by supporting the data computing and research team in the execution of academic research projects and student experiential learning projects, with a special focus on AI and machine learning applications. The Research Analyst works closely with corporate partners to support data access, transfer, storage, preparation, and documentation for student experiential learning and research projects. This role also assists students and researchers in using and understanding the data, provides business intelligence and administrative support, and will help manage online synchronous and asynchronous courses and workshops for students across the University. The Research Analyst will also support survey design, data collection, and survey data analysis for academic research projects and student experiential learning projects.Job Responsibilities
Ingest, store, clean, explore, manage, and document data.
Assist in the design and administration of surveys, collect and analyze large and complex data sets, and report findings to support research projects.
Work with students and researchers on data-analytics and research projects, providing business intelligence and administrative support.
Manage online synchronous/asynchronous courses and workshops, providing course improvements/updates, and developing new online course material.
Work with WAIAI staff on the development of presentations, content, and other custom projects.
Assist in the development and expansion of data storage, research applications, and technical documentation and collaborate with the WAIAI data computing and research team, Wharton Computing, and Penn departments to ensure research technology operations follow computing standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master's Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5-7 years of experience working with data and data analysis tools.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, and Data Visualization.
Familiarity with cloud computing services like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
Experience working with AI tools/services like LLMs, ChatGPT, and the OpenAI API.
Experience with survey design, data collection, and survey data analysis.
Experience with human subject research.
Familiarity with survey software like Qualtrics, Prolific, or SurveyMonkey Apply.
Experience in mentoring or technical project management with students.
Experience with teaching and/or online course development a plus.
Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills with the ability to translate between technical processes and actionable business insights.
Detail-oriented and experienced in leading projects from end to end.
Experience executing data based and data analytics projects with companies. Ability to identify relevant and interesting business questions, supporting datasets, and an understanding of the implementation of solutions a plus.
