Job Title: Research AssociatePhiladelphia, PA 191032 Year ContractKelly Scientific seeks a diligent and experienced research professional with experience in DNA extraction and analysis on soil samples from unknown sources. DNA extraction and sequencing

Associated pipetting, filtering, and sample preparation

Measure translocations through nanopores of pure analyte samples.

Measure translocations through nanopores of environmental samples.

Data documentation - required to keep meticulous lab book records.

Create a database of all of the above measurement results.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a science related study (ideally biological sciences -biochemistry, cellular or molecular biology, microbiology)

Experience: 3-5 years experience – Clinical research/medical device

  • Reference #: 24000781 Description Grade: V13 Posting Rate: 24.08 The Research Technician provides technical support by performing scientific experiments. Once trained by the PI, will independently handle experiments as part of different projects in the lab, maintains records of data, and may be involved in training graduate and medical students in research methods and procedures. Responsibilities include cell culture, cell and molecular assays, western blotting, PCR, RT-PCR, DNA/RNA/protein isolation, flow cytometry staining, data analysis, data interpretation, and presentations (which they will be trained on). Willingness to work with mice is desired. Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks; performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment; assists with drafting specific research protocols and procedures; maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies, and equipment; cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment; records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: At least three years of directly related research experience. Required Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication skills Ability to work collaboratively as part of the research team Demonstrated ability to perform relevant experimental techniques Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment Interest in cancer research Preferred: Bachelor\'s Degree Prior lab experience in Molecular and Cellular Biology, preferably in a metabolism focused lab. Willingness to work with lab animals (mice) This position requires a background check. This is a grant funded position.
