The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia serves eastern and central Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.The Senior Communications Specialist is a senior professional responsible for a variety of high-profile communications projects for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Partnering with the Bank President’s speech writer, the senior specialist edits speech content for publication. Additionally, you develop and implement internal communications efforts to support Bank key strategic initiatives, core business objectives, and executive leadership communication needs. You also contribute to external communications efforts that enhance the Bank’s messaging strategy and elevate the organization’s reputation and visibility among target audiences. In addition, you provide editorial review of internal communications, and other publications, as needed.Job DescriptionWorking with the teams across Strategic Communications and Digital Engagement, the Office of the President, and other key Bank partners, the senior communications specialist provides strategic communications support and counsel to advance key Bank initiatives and priorities.

Works closely with the Bank President’s speech writer to edit speeches for publication.

Partners with colleagues in Strategy, Risk, and Financial Management to promote the Bank’s leadership on the International Operational Risk Working Group and edit communications materials

With the Manager, Strategic Messaging, works closely with senior leadership on executive communications support for internal communications.

Leads communication planning and strategy for key Bank initiatives for both internal and external audiences.

With Manager of Strategic Messaging and the Messaging team, develops communications plans and project timelines related to special internal communications initiatives. Responsible for implementation of communications plans and execution of deliverables across Strategic Communications and Digital Engagement units.

Provides editorial review for internal communications products, including the employee newsletter and intranet articles. Ensures quality and accuracy of work product and adherence to style guidelines.

As part of the Strategic Messaging team, participates in developing of key topical messaging sets, content calendars, and driving the overall content strategy for the institution. Generates ideas on how to maximize strategic use of content across all platforms.

Collaborates on key messaging for projects and communications initiatives, including leading messaging development for select topics, and actively contributes to the Strategic Messaging Workgroup.

Creates content to support internal and external communication, including contributing to the Bank’s featured content series, annual report, employee newsletter, employee intranet, and more.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, education, or related discipline and a minimum of seven years of relevant writing and editing experience. Must have a combination of editing and writing experience.Knowledge and Skills:Demonstrated skills in writing for both print and digital channels. Outstanding editing and prooing abilities and demonstrated attention to detail. Familiarity with commonly used style manuals. Effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision while adhering to specified deadlines. Advanced technical proficiency in editing/word processing and spreadsheet software. Effective interpersonal skills, oral and written communications, and an ability to translate research into language that an educated/informed audience can understand. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive materials. Experience and an interest in creative use of internet-based journalism, and social media and familiarity with publishing software.
