Are you living your life's work?Sterile ProcessingThis position supervises all activities of the Sterile Processing discipline. Works with the Sterile Processing Manager of The University of Pennsylvania (HUP) to coordinate these activities. Provides direction and oversight for decontamination, preparation and sterilization activities. The incumbent supports the OR and all procedures areas as well as the CPUP practices under the HUP umbrella ensuring all established procedures governing the re-processing of instruments are strictly adhered to. Responsible for oversight of instrument set, sterilization and staff performance quality assurance audits. Performs daily review of all sterilization records to ensure full departmental compliance. Manages the daily department duty assignment schedule and priority list activities. Provides immediate oversight and onsite assistance for educational preceptorship of new staff members and students. Evaluates and responds to the immediate needs of the operating room staff related to patient care and instrumentation. Point of contact and direct liaison with customers to ensure the correct processing and turnaround of their instrumentation is consistent with established protocols. This position will assist in the enforcement of compliance with all Infection Control, TJC, DOH, federal, state, local, hospital and department regulations. Administers constructive discipline and monitoring of staff compliance with performance improvement plans alone or in conjunction with director and managers when needed. Is responsible to actively interact and collaborate with all identified clinical and support levels of the Perioperative Services Division.H.S. Diploma/GED, required. Associate's degree Healthcare, Business or related field, preferred. Bachelor's Degree Healthcare, Business or related field, preferred. 0-2 years of Supervisory experience in related field, required. 5+ years Must possess thorough knowledge related to Sterile Processing techniques, procedures and standards as set by accreditation and regulatory agencies. Up to 3 years of experience in a related field, preferred. CRCST certification required.
