Bart’s Bagels is a bagel bake house, smoked fish joint, and neighborhood coffee shop that elevates the ordinary and raises the bar for Jewish comfort food in Philadelphia. We are seeking an awesome, reliable, and hardworking individual to join our team as a Kitchen Manager for our shop in West Philly!

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for all kitchen operations including but not limited to food preparation, ordering, service, cleanliness and maintaining high quality standards. The Kitchen Manager is always guest-, food-, and team-focused. As an enthusiastic team leader, you will lead by example, and hold yourself and all team members accountable for their performance and product output.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Oversee daily kitchen operations of the shop - from opening to closing, executing at the highest level

- Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to Bart’s Bagels extremely high standards for cooking, recipes, serving and portioning.

- The food comes first - willingness to put out and create the highest quality food

- Perfectly executed cooked to order breakfast items and bagel sandwiches

- Great Communication - able to delegate tasks and hold the kitchen staff to high standards

- Product knowledge - willingness to learn all of our products and be an educator to our customers and new staff

- Proactively solve problems ensuring the shop operates efficiently and at capacity

- Manage and lead team members to ensure our guests receive the best food and service

- Work with general manager, head chef, commissary manager and ownership to create a positive and efficient work environment for the whole team

- Support Bart’s Bagels high operational standards by holding yourself and your team members to the provided checklists, operational procedures, and other standardized tools

- Help the commissary manager with daily prep

- Continued focus on all ServeSafe food safety standards and commitment to shop safety

- Daily/Weekly Inventory and Ordering through the Commissary

- Manage and oversee food preparation for our catering program

- Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.

- Train new kitchen team members

- Work 5 days a week, must be available to work weekends and holidays

You’ll be a great addition to our team if you:

- Have 1-2 years of experience in a restaurant management role

- Have a good understanding of P&L, COGS, decision making, process improvement, labor/scheduling, training & team development and food quality standards

- Have ServeSafe Manager’s Food Safety Certification

- Can coordinate multiple tasks such as food and labor costs while maintaining required standards of operation in daily shop activities

- Are hospitality-oriented and have a passion for the guest experience

- Believe in a hands-on management style and lead by example

- Strong leadership skills

- Take initiative, be proactive and see the big picture

- Have a high-energy, positive can-do attitude that thrives in a fast-paced environment

- Treat others with kindness and respect

- Be a team player and willing to help others

- Work calmly and effectively under pressure;

- Communicate clearly and efficiently

- Can work flexible shifts and schedules, inclusive of weekends and holidays.
