We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Matter and Framer with proven expertise in handling fine art prints, particularly limited editions on paper. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience using professional mat cutting machinery and framing tools, with an exceptional eye for detail and commitment to archival standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cut and prepare mats to precise specifications using manual mat cutting machinery.
Measure, mount, and frame (using ready made frames) high-value and limited edition artworks on paper to museum-quality standards.
Handle prints with utmost care, ensuring no damage or contamination.
Select and cut archival-quality materials (mats, backings, hinges, glazing, etc.) appropriate for each project.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace; perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Assist in quality control, packaging, and presentation of finished artworks.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 3–5 years’ professional experience in fine art matting and framing.
Expert-level skill with mat cutting machinery
Strong understanding of archival mounting and framing techniques for works on paper.
Keen eye for color, proportion, and visual presentation.
Ability to work efficiently and accurately under tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with fine art editions, galleries, or print studios.
Familiarity with conservation framing practices and materials.
Knowledge of paper types and fine art print processes (etchings, lithographs, giclées, screenprints, etc.).
