TWEE're Looking For A Studio Maker!
Maker
Compensation: $14/hr
Job Type: Part-time - 10-15 hrs week
2-3 shifts weekly from 8-1 pm or 1-6 pm
Responsibilities: The Maker would be responsible for the creation of a specific amount of chalk to be poured, popped, and/or decorated on a daily basis. Our method for production is highly repetitive work and requires a high level of attention to detail. Experience in food service (as line cooks, dishwashers, baristas) tends to translate well as well as experience with printmaking, papermaking, and other crafts. Any knowledge of mold making, casting and/or similar practices would be helpful, although not necessary.
Moving the product out of the studio is another important part of the process. This type of shift involves checking the product for obvious flaws (quality check), sorting and transporting made chalk within the workspace.
Maintaining a clean studio space is a shared responsibility and encompasses chores such as the disposal of leftover chalk slurry, scraping tables, moving bags of plaster, five gallon buckets, assisting with studio maintenance projects, taking the (daily) trash out, and cleaning your own tools.
Requirements: This is a hands-on workspace that will often require the maker to work unsupervised. Because of this, the individual in this position must be self-motivated and be able to anticipate the next job that needs to be done. The candidate must have extreme attention to detail and be well organized. They must also be a QUICK learner and worker.
Physical Requirements: MUST be able to lift 50lbs. Also must be able to work standing for five hours at a time, in a studio setting with fluorescent lighting and constant background noise. Must wear a provided N95 mask for the duration of the shift. This is a workplace with real-life rainbows and sparkles, but it is also a very messy and physically taxing job.
