Six Fishes is a bustling, inclusive acupuncture practice that relies on our warmth and expertise to create tailored wellness plans to support the health and wellbeing of Philadelphia's diverse community. We are seeking an office manager/insurance biller to join our team.

We are hiring an Office Manager for our 15th Street Office!

This position is typically Monday-Friday, though it may include an occasional Saturday or evening. Hours vary daily: generally 8-4, M and Friday, Tues 8-7, Weds 12-7, Th 8-2, Friday 8-2. The pay range is $17-19/ hour to start.

28-38 hours per week, with a consistent number of hours determined by mutual agreement. Our perfect number is around 32-34 hours a week. 2 Weeks of PTO per year, One week of sick pay / per year, free acupuncture treatments, and discounts on supplements and herbs.

Here are the most important things we are looking for:

fantastic customer service skills (you love people, they love you, you like helping!)

a “quick study,”meaning you are bright, intelligent, and observant. If you are often called “smart” in our book, that’s a good thing.

Beyond innovative- emotional intelligence. We’re dealing with human beings, and I want them to have a warm human experience.

strong attention to detail

ability to prioritize and manage projects and systems and delegate as necessary, with the follow through to match

excellent communication skills–you are a proactive communicator. You are committed to a “more communication is always better” ethos.

emotional maturity and the willingness and ability to be a great team player. You get that healthy relationships are essential. (we practice a lot of systems to cultivate this as a team–we are human beings, after all.)

reliable

comfortable with scheduling software, text, email, and telephone technology. If technology makes you nervous or stresses you out, this is not the right fit.

mature–you’ve got some life experience under your belt, and it’s made you wiser.

management experience–if you’ve worked in a classroom, run a household, or managed teams/projects, that’s a bonus.

You have a good sense of humor. You are grounded but not stuck. Someone who sees a system can see its value and how it might even be improved. You can listen, observe, and make suggestions after gathering information.

You are willing to get curious about issues rather than reacting with your mood or out of defensiveness. You might be excited about holistic health, but you are not a provider of any kind of holistic health at all.

This is a vital role in our clinic, and we want you to dedicate your full attention to it while at work. We are human beings doing work with human beings. We aren’t perfect, but in our team, we dearly value clear communication, curiosity about everything, and helping to make the world a better place, one acupuncture treatment and patient interaction at a time. The job is a management position that is both patient-facing and administrative, and you will be part of the leadership team. You would also be available to start working with us within an efficient time frame (we understand the need for a two-week notice, however!)

Is this you?

If so, please send your responses, along with a resume, to info@sixfishes.com with the subject line, "[YOUR NAME] Office Manager Application":

1. In 3-5 sentences, tell us why you are a good fit for this position

2. In 3-5 sentences, tell us why you are interested in this position

3. In 2-4 sentences, tell us something interesting about you.

Only applicants who answer these three questions will be considered.
