Description of Key Responsibilities: (List all position functions)Report any concerns with equipment, facility, and crop to Head GrowerWalk the crop daily Program booms and echoes and ensure proper applications Ensure quality standards are maintained through spacing, weeding, trimming, pinching, and cleanlinessIdentify any crop issue and prescribe remedy for subordinate to administerSafely calculate, measure, and mix restricted use chemicals (RUCs) according to all laws and regulationsMaintain accurate, complete, and up to date spray log for PA Department of Agriculture Responsible for safety of all staff applying RUCs in assigned section which includes working spray equipment, use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe handling instructions for the RUC Program and operate irrigation system and any other control systems (Argus currently)Plan and coordinate the following day's work which includes checking the weather report daily to include any weather-related adjustments to daily plans.Ensure daily water test taken and recorded. Responsible for pesticide program. Purchase chemicals, mix proper dosage and record applications.Grower on duty every 2nd weekend or as needed Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are utilized and maintained All other duties as assignedC.) Required Skills:Extensive ornamental plant knowledgeWorking knowledge of pesticide application systemsThe ability to identify and diagnose insect pest and plant diseases.Must have above basic math skillsBi-lingual (English – Spanish) a plus D.) Typical Physical Demands:Must be able to walk, bend over & stand for up to 10 hours. Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 10 hours and 50 pounds.The ability to work in a fast-paced indoor and outdoor environmentThe ability to work during inclement weather (within reason)The ability to work in high humidity and varying temperatures with moisture presentE.)
