filled with music & wine.Position SummaryThe main focus of the role is to interact with City Winery’s guests, promoting and maximizing wine sales, while also leading the service team to perform their jobs with high attention to detail in table service & maintenance.The role also requires direct collaboration with the National Beverage Director, General Manager and management team to effectively handle special requests from guests ensure the smooth beverage service and operations throughout the event, concert and restaurant spaces in the location.Beverage Director supervises day-to-day activities of beverage staff; provides training, planning, assigning and directing work; interviews and hires; appraises performance, rewards, and disciples employees; corrects and approves time cards, schedules time off; and addresses complaints and resolves problems.This position is designed to strengthen City Winery’s positioning as a food-, beverage- and service-centric destination with focus on hospitality and education, and to highlight our offerings through promotion and sales of City Winery produced wines, alongside beverages from producers around the world.Minimum Qualifications 4 years of restaurant service experience 3 years of beverage service experience as a sommelier, wine steward or wine manager 2 years of restaurant management experience Wine buyer experience Strong knowledge of wine, beer and spirits, their origin, taste, ingredients and service Current knowledge of local beverage market, its offerings, limits and beverage related laws Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusion Ability to be present at work assigned schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours when required Ability to lift, push and/or pull up to 30 lbs.Overview of ResponsibilitiesThe following represents an overview of the Beverage Director’s duties, it is not exhaustive.Inventory: To complete required daily financial tools and reports. To execute and audit beverage inventory on the 1st of every month and cost control systems and processes. To analyze and evaluate beverage department profits and loss statements and makes recommendations as to alternative courses of action.Beverage Program: To ensure that all beverage products served meet the established specifications and standards. To ensure the proper level of service is provided based on forecasted needs. Works with other management to ensure proper management & staff coverage at all times through effective, methodical scheduling and planning. To be responsible for the knowledge of all alcohol laws and ordinance and the implementation of these requirements. To ensure that all revenues are captured and reported accurately. To ensure all products necessary for beverage operations are ordered and delivered in a timely fashion. To ensure that all bars and beverage equipment is operated safely and with reasonable care, reporting mechanical problems to the proper department for repair. To generate and track work orders as needed.Service: To ensure the highest possible standards of guest service are provided and listens and responds to guest and employee concerns and questions. To respond immediately to any guest complaints to ensure that corrections are made and that 100% guest satisfaction is met. To implement ‘Guest Recovery’ as appropriate. To be present on the floor during service hours and participate in beverage sales.Staff Training: To train and enforce practical application of all Health Code requirements at all bars and by all beverage employees to ensure the responsibilities to Public Health and Safety are meet. Through coaching, teaching and training, to lead beverage department personnel in the proper performance of their duties; leading by positive example at all times. To document these actions as necessary. To set performance expectations and provides coaching and operational support of the staff. To provide consistent and relevant training in wine, spirits & beer, with the focus on City Winery produced wines. To attend pre-shift meetings, taste and train staff on new offerings, and communicate any changes or updates in the beverage program. To attend and satisfactorily complete all training as assigned by National Beverage Director and General Manager.Public Events: To plan, execute and supervise Public Beverage Events to include but not limited to Wine & Beverage Dinners, Wine & Beverage Classes, Tastings and Seminars. To maintain a clean, sanitary, safe and comfortable work environment for employees and guests; creating a positive work environment that fosters harmony and growth. To perform other duties as assigned.
