Pittsburgh, PA this role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week when not traveling. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and efficiency as we serve the needs of our customers.

The successful candidate will be a part of the

Turbine Solutions Field Service group with responsibilities including installation engineering and commissioning for Emerson power projects. The

Power & Water Solutions business focuses on upgrading existing power plant systems with industry leading automation controls and instrumentation to promote sustainability and longevity of our North American power grid. This position includes aspects of project management, engineering design, system integration, testing, and commissioning services to deliver comprehensive results. You will provide technical leadership and innovative thinking to ensure customer satisfaction.


As a Field Service Engineer, you will:

Design installation packages and documentation (I/O List, Wire List, Lift Land Lists etc) for project and site activities
Provide supervision of installation sub-contractors at site during installation and commissioning
Verify and functionally test interfaces to field devices, (gas turbines, generators, auxiliary systems, and balance of plant equipment)
Handle and report site activities in support of outages
Cultivate relationships with internal project teams, customer project teams and contractors
Apply your advanced troubleshooting, problem-solving, decision-making, and planning skills


Who you are:

You engage key stakeholders early and consider the upside and downside scenarios. You prepare content for communication that is impactful. You understand that different situations may call for different approaches.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in engineering from an accredited college or university
5+ years of excitation commissioning experience
Willingness to travel 65% annually, with seasonal increase up to 70-80%, to company facilities and customer sites in North America
Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this position


Preferred education, experience & skills:

Experience with various equipment manufacturers is highly preferred
Team leadership and supervisory skills as well as dynamic project responsibility is a definite asset
A good business understanding and effective dealings with internal and external clients are critical
