ASSISTANT/ ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF CYTOGENETICSUNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGHRank: Assistant/Associate Professor - Appointment StreamThe Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is recruiting Clinical Laboratory Geneticists as the Assistant professor or Associate Professor in the Appointment Stream for the Cytogenetics Laboratories at the UPMC Medical Genetics and Genomics Laboratories. The primary responsibility will include analysis and interpretation of results, preparation and reviewing of final test reports, and reporting of karyotyping, FISH, and microarray analysis in oncological, prenatal, and postnatal specimens.The Assistant/Associate Director will assist in the overall direction, supervision, and administration of the operations related to specimen handling, testing, and reporting in an accurate, proficient, and expedient manner while ensuring client and patient confidentiality. Working in an academic laboratory with state-of-the-art testing technologies, the candidate will be expected to develop and validate in-house assays for applications in oncology and other areas of clinical relevance. Other responsibilities include helping in the maintenance of standard operating procedure manuals, and quality control practices, and directing cytogenetics technical staff in the performance of proficiency testing programs as required by the regulatory and licensing agencies CLIA, CAP.The Assistant/Associate Professor will closely interact with the Molecular & Genomic Pathology Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and will participate in the education of Pathology and OB/GYN residents/fellows, as well as training of LGG fellows through the ACGME-certified program. Innovation is an important part of our activities, and we expect that the candidate will participate in publishing, collaborating, and developing new tests. Departmental and institutional support is available for teaching and research activities.Qualifications: MD/DO and/or PhD candidates who are ABMGG-Certified or Eligible for Certification in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics LGG or Cytogenetics are welcome to apply for full-time/part-time positions.
