If you are ready for an impacting and rewarding opportunity in your nursing career, we invite you to apply today!UPMC Shadyside is currently hiring both experienced and graduate Full-Time Registered Nurses to support the Neuro-Oncology/Neuro-Surgery unit, 7 West.About the Position & Unit:7 West is a 24-bed newly renovated Neuro-Oncology/Neuro-Surgery unit that cares for postoperative craniotomies and spinal surgeries related to tumor debulking, stroke patients, and acute/chronic neurological conditions. We also see a diverse population of oncology patients and some medical patients. We are a high-performing unit that focuses on patient-centered care. Among patient care, nurses will have the opportunity to participate in hospital-based councils and committees, as well as continued unit development/education and quality projects. We strongly encourage our nursing staff to continue their education through academia, monthly unit education sessions, in-services, and conferences. This is a team-oriented unit with a supportive staff, leaders, and Neurosurgeons. The minimum rate of pay for a non-BSN Professional Staff Nurse is $31.60.Responsibilities:

Previous patient care experience is preferred. Graduate nurses will be considered.

Associate degree in nursing/bachelor’s degree in nursing/master’s degree in nursing accepted.

If BS degree is not in nursing, a master’s or higher degree in nursing is required.

The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.

Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.

Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.

Critical thinking skills are necessary to exercise and to lead others in the application of the nursing process. Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

Current Licensure of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) is required.

Graduate nurses must complete the licensure examination within 6 months of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first.

Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
