PBC Histology Tech IIIThe successful candidate will work in a state of the art, high volume Research Histology service facility that supports clinicians and faculty investigators for the University of Pittsburgh and affiliated institutions.Job SummaryPerforms a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.Essential FunctionsThis position involves supporting the histology technicians and manager with the daily operations of the lab to include, but not limited to, receiving and distributing projects, database management, sample preparation, equipment maintenance, reagent formulation, and maintaining stock supply of consumables. The position will prepare and facilitate the organization of projects. The incumbent will transfer materials to and from the imaging department. The candidate will undergo training in basic areas of histology to assist the techs as needed.The candidate will also perform tasks that are assigned to them by the manager.Physical EffortSitting and standing at the bench for long periods.Reading small print on tubes, and vials.Bending and lifting to put away lab supplies.Lifting up to 30 pounds.Walking back and forth between buildings to go to different lab sites.The University of Pittsburgh is committed to championing all aspects of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within our community.
