Motion Planning Engineer (Mid to Lead / Architect level) - Autonomous Robotics

Location: Pittsburgh, PA. You can work from home as long as you come into the office when needed roughly 2 weeks per year.
You would be working in the Autonomy & Perception Innovation of an industry leading company. The company is a household name and its products involve hardware, robotics, A.I., autonomous vehicles, environmental sustainability, social good, and more. The company and its products make an enormous positive impact on humanity worldwide. Although the company has tens of thousands of employees, you'd be working with an elite team of about 25 people (almost all engineers) in your office, along with hundreds of engineers in your broader group focused on autonomous robotics. This opportunity has many of the benefits of working for an industry leader (such as global reach, financial strength and stability, and great support and infrastructure) combined with the benefits of working within a startup environment (such as a culture of innovation, being able to get things done at a fast pace, and making a big impact on the product).
The company will pay very competitive salary (no specific cap), extensive benefits (better than most of the other major tech companies), bonuses, and RSUs.

Job Responsibilities:
- Working as part of the Planning team for an autonomous vehicle platform.
- Researching and developing motion / path planning algorithms that will enable autonomous systems to understand the world around them and safely navigate.
- Turning real-world problems into well-defined projects, surveying and selecting the right approach, developing quick prototypes, and bringing them to production.
- Designing metrics and software to gauge performance against requirements.
- Mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience implementing motion/path planning algorithms.
- A Bachelors or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- Solid understanding of relevant mathematics fundamentals such as 3D geometry and linear algebra.
- Proficiency in Python or C.
- Ability to convert research papers into production implementation.

Nice to have:
- Strong in C
- Experience with Perception algorithms.
