UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing is currently hiring part-time Nursing Instructors to join their rapidly growing team of life changers!A Master's degree is preferred but this position will accept candidates with a BSN if enrolled in MSN program with a degree completion plan. The focus of our program is mastery of high-level competencies reflecting the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for the delivery of safe, quality nursing care.The nursing instructor is a nursing professional who has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for both the didactic and clinical instruction of students in utilizing the nursing process to provide quality patient care. This position requires the ability to effectively instruct nursing students in the classroom as well as lead the faculty within the course to provide meaningful learning experiences, guide and evaluate the students in the clinical environment while utilizing the nursing process during the provision of care to ensure safe nursing care and quality patient outcomes.Responsibilities:

Encourages innovative teaching strategies and contributes to educational development at UPMC Schools of Nursing. Demonstrates leadership and commitment to nursing and school goals, serving as a professional role model and co-chair of committees.
MSN required 3 years of clinical practice
Precepting experience required; clinical teaching experience in a prelicensure program preferred
Previous teaching experience preferred.
Certified Nurse Educator certification preferred.
Appointment to this position and retention of this position is contingent upon the approval of the PA State Board of Nursing.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
Appointment to this position and retention of this position is contingent upon the approval of the PA State Board of Nursing.
Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state
Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state
UPMC-approved certification is highly preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
Have Act 33, 34, and 73 (FBI) clearances
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
