The Physical Therapist (PT) reviews patient charts, performs initial assessments, develops treatment plans, administers physical therapy treatments and modalities, monitors progress and documents treatments performed with patients (including discharge planning and patient education) in order to increase overall functioning, reduce discomfort, increase or maintain flexibility and range of motion/strength, and achieve other medical and therapeutic goals. This part time position will be scheduled for a minimum of 24 hours each week.Responsibilities:

Keep referring physicians and the health care team informed about patient status.

Serve as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students, residents, and fellows.

Maintain licensure through continuous education and professional growth.

Assess, treat, and supervise patients across age groups.

Adapt treatment plans based on patient response and status changes.

Collaborate with physical therapist assistants (PTAs).

Document assessments, follow-up visits, and discharge summaries.

Handle charge and statistical information accurately.

Provide verbal and written instructions to patients and families.

Graduate of an accredited program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.

Acute and rehab experience preferred but not required

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Active license in practicing state required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • The Pelvic Health and Lymphedema Residency is designed to provide practicing therapists with advanced training in examination, clinical decision-making, and manual therapy techniques. The program runs for 16 consecutive months (beginning in August). Additionally, the program places an emphasis upon utilizing research and literature to maintain practice within the scope of evidence-based physical therapy. The program is funded by the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute, housed within several outpatient clinics. The program has been designed to advance the competent physical therapist through education, research and professional service into a board-certified clinical specialist in the area of women’s/ pelvic health physical therapy.
