Psychiatric Nurse PractitionerThe University of Pittsburgh Student Health Services provides high quality primary health care, prevention, health education and pharmacy services to enhance student living and learning. Primary care services include management of both acute and chronic conditions as well as travel health and provision of gender affirming care. The Gynecological services include screening for STIs, provision of age specific screening as well as full contraceptive management. Psychiatric services include management of mood disorders as well as ADHD. Student Health Services is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care AAAHC, these services uphold rigorous standards of quality and safety, promoting a healthy environment conducive to academic success.Job SummaryProvides direct psychiatric care to students. Performs patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment, testing, medication management, and timely follow-up care and referrals. Provides patient education and facilitates continuity of care with appropriate care plans. Assists other clinicians and/or psychiatrist, maintains electronic record documentation, and maintains patient confidentiality.Essential Functions
Delivers direct psychiatric care to students in accordance with all regulations and best practice protocols, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment plans, emotional support, and timely follow-up care.
Orders and interprets diagnostic testing, prescribes medication, and makes referrals and consult appointments as necessary.
Provides one-on-one patient education regarding medications, risks, benefits, and outcome expectations.
Facilitates continuity of care by developing and implementing appropriate care plans.
Works collaboratively and assists other clinicians and/or psychiatrist when needed and/or appropriate.
Maintains detailed, accurate, and timely notes/progress updates in electronic records.
Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with all regulations and policies.
Attends on-campus events, conferences, and meetings as directed. Physical EffortModerate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time.
